I really like that you chose to have commercial chickens, as a humanitarian you provide them a much happier life than they would of had. Thanks for the video

Instinctively, …
Instinctively, chickens will perch on the highest level to escape predators. The perch would have to be higher than the boxes to encourage them to use it. Mine are level to my boxes and my birds use both. Sleeping in the boxes means cleaning out the boxes and sleeping on the perch, means cleaning the floor. It is a matter of individual choice.

Our ex battery hens …
Our ex battery hens have Correx over the floor of their hen house. In between the layer of correx and the wood is a thick sheet of polystyrene.
On top of the correx we use a bedding similar to Excel for horses and is woodflake and chopped straw. It’s lovely and warm, the flooring is easy to clean and our ex batts are thriving. Thanks for your video.

Chickens make the …
Chickens make the best pets. They are good company, are easy to train and give you wonderful eggs to eat. They have great personalities. I did (by mistake) train mine to walk with me like a dog and on a day when i was running late for work, 2 of the followed me most of the way there. I didn’t notice them following me untill i started to get strange looks from people driving past.

Fiona Garrick is …
Fiona Garrick is very funny.. great set up she has there. I’ve never been so fussy with my chickens; because they eat all the seed out of the sraw in their pen i just rake the whole area once a week and put the staw and ‘poop’ on my garden beds.

I really love the sliding doors on your nest boxes. I wanted to house my chickens in my garage, however, they couldnt be just running around, so I was going to seperate a portion of the room for them and have the nest boxes at the back for easy egg colecting. Could you explain how to build the nest box sliding doors for me? Thank you.
